BIOGRAPHY OF CHEF ANDREW TOMKO

Executive Chef and owner, Andrew Tomko, first became interested in cooking at the age of sixteen while working at the Coach and Paddock Restaurant, in Jutland, NJ.

After completing High School, he decided to continue in the Culinary field and enrolled at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he learned the fundamental skills about cooking and baking.

Soon after graduating college, he apprenticed under Belgium's leading Chef, John Lassnence, while working in the Black Swan in Princeton. Here he learned traditional French cooking from basic sauces to intricate plate presentation.

Andrew continued working in the restaurant field, first as an executive Chef at Cooper Hill Country Club, in Flemington, and next as Executive Chef, at the Inn at Mill Race Pond in Hope, NJ for six years. In 1996 Andrew purchased the Frenchtown Inn with his wife Colleen and parents Tom and Laura Tomko.

Andrew's recipes have appeared in various magazines including BonAppetie, November 1996 (his signature Sesame Seed Crusted Salmon);Country Home, April 1996, (his Roast Game Hen on Capellini and Spring Vegetables and Brie inPuff Pastry with White Grape Cream Sauce); and Montage Magazine a five course dinner for two for Spring/Summer form New Jersey Monthly, October 1998 and the Award of Excellence, for the well rounded and reasonable priced wine list of the Frenchtown Inn (1997&1998). In a Collector's Edition of Gourmet Magazine, The Frenchtown Inn was chosen for America's top table- (One of the best 20 Restaurants in New Jersey and in July 1998 listed with 16 top restaurant in NJ) Philadelphia Magazine: 1999 Best of Philly for his fish dish in, Zagats Survey 1997-chosen Number One Brunch, and One of the Best Restaurants in New Jersey, Zagats Survey 1998 "Wonderful in Everyway", #1 Brunch in the State. In November of 1997 Confrerie di la Chaine des Rotisserurs Baillaiage de Leigh Valley held a dinner at the Frenchtown Inn. Over the past several years Andrew has also participated in various fund-raiser's including The Great Chef's of North Jersey (1992-1995), hosted by the Mt. Olive and Roxbury Rotary clubs winning 'Best of Show'; The ARC of Hunterdon County (1993,2004 and 2005 : Chef's night at Panther Valley (1995) to benefit Battered Women; The Great Chef Tasting for Battered Women in (1996) at the Park Ave Club; Taste of the Nation for relief of World Hunger (1997,1998 & 1999); Autumn Night's Dream for the women Crisis Center of Hunterdon County (fall 1997); Stepping out with the Iron Man, benefiting seven children charities in Central Bucks County (fall 1998 &1999); Elijah's Promise (benefiting soup kitchens) at the Hyatt in New Brunswick (May 1999): Shop rite LPGA in Atlantic City (June 2000 & 2005, 2006)
